3.1.16. A compression
THE GENERAL DATA

Compression check allows to draw conclusions on an engine condition. At its check it is possible to establish, whether in norm valves or pistons (piston rings) or they are worn out. Besides, by results of the control it is possible to define, whether the engine is subject to replacement or it can be repaired in a complex. For check the device is necessary for the compression control.

The pressure difference between separate cylinders should make a maximum 1,5 bar. If the difference in pressure makes more than 1,5 bar it is a sign of the defective valves, the worn out piston rings or the directing cylinder. If will reach a deterioration limit, it is necessary to repair or replace the engine.

Pressure of compression should make: for the 4-cylinder engine 10–14 bar, for 6-cylinder nearby 12 bar.
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For the compression control warm up the engine. After achievement of working temperature of a cooling liquid pass 5 more km to provide sufficient temperature of engine oil.
2. Raise an engine cowl.
3. The engine in volume of 1,8/2,0 l: switch off ignition. The gauge of a position of a cranked shaft (L5) disconnect from a PMS-monitor.
4. The engine in volume of 2,2/2,8 l: switch off ignition. Remove a covering of a monitor behind a forward wall of a body. Disconnect штеккер () from a HFM-monitor (N3/4).
5. Unscrew all spark plugs.
6. Some times scroll the engine a starter to remove adjournment and soot.
The prevention

Establish a transmission in position of idling and tighten a lay brake. During time прокручивания do not bend over the engine: danger of a trauma!


7. The device of the control of a compression (01) according to the maintenance instruction insert or twist a rod (04) in a spark plug aperture. Enter new sheet for the diagramme (03), (02) intermediate detail.
8. Charge to the assistant to press an accelerator pedal against the stop and to hold it till the end of check pressed.
9. The engine should make about eight turns, pressure lifting by the measuring device will not be fixed yet.
10. One after another check up all cylinders and compare to rating value.
11. Then insert spark plugs.
12. At the switched off ignition put on the gauge of a position of a cranked shaft on PMS or a HFM-monitor. Establish a cover of operating device HFM.
13. Close a cowl.
