10.1.2.1. Check and recycling of shock-absorbers
THE GENERAL DATA

During a trip malfunction of shock-absorbers can be defined to following signs:

– The long fluctuations of a body caused by roughnesses of road;
– A body swing on two hillocks of road following one after another;
– Jumping of wheels on normal road;
– Car jerk at braking (can be caused and other reasons);
– A road incontience on turns, drift;
– Strong knocks;
– The raised deterioration of tyres with bald places on a protector.

The shock-absorber can be checked up effort of a hand. Exact definition of degree of deterioration probably only by means of adaptations: a rod-tester (the shock-absorber does not act in film) or the test car of shock-absorbers.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the shock-absorber.
2. In the collected kind 3 times stretch and compress the shock-absorber. During all course the shock-absorber should move in regular intervals hard, without jerks, besides, without undesirable noise.
3. Completely move a shock-absorber rod, then release it. The rod should be put forward outside with uniform speed.
4. At excellent job insignificant traces of oil are not the basis for shock-absorber replacement.
5. Replace the shock-absorber at the big loss of oil.
6. Put the shock-absorber.

Recycling of shock-absorbers


The prevention

The shock-absorber contains mineral oil, and, for example, in Germany, according to the law on a waste its contents surrender together with engine oil.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To merge oil from the shock-absorber, it is necessary to let out preliminary from it nonpoisonous gas without colour and a smell, having drilled on distance of 20 mm from the basis a hole in diameter of 3 mm.
2. To merge oil, it is necessary to drill a hole in diameter of 5 mm on distance of 60 mm from the basis.
